Frequently Asked Questions

LEARN MORE

How much does it cost for a student to go to camp, and what does it cover?

The cost of camp is $205 per student or $175 Early Bird for the first 75 students to register. Payments can be made online or in the Lakewood Bookstore. The cost covers room and board, transportation, a t-shirt, and all meals and activities.

Is there an emergency contact number?

One Lakewood Middle School staff member will have our emergency contact cell phone on them at all times. We will give the contact number to all guardians of registered students.

Can I contact my student while they are at camp?

Students are allowed to call parents during any meal or free time. Students are NOT to be on their phone for any other reason except to take pictures. We want students to get the most of their summer camp experience without any distractions.

What should my student pack for camp?

After a student is registered they will receive a complete packing list via email. Please make sure we have a valid email address when you register your student to ensure you receive all pertinent information.

What do we do with medication?

On the day we leave for camp at check-in at Lakewood Church, all students with medication will turn in their medication(s) to our assigned Lakewood Middle School staff member. Upon arrival at camp, all medications will be given to the certified nurse who will be responsible to administer all medications to students.

Should I send food with my student?

You will need to provide breakfast for your student to eat on the way to camp (or just eat before). All other meals will be provided at the campsite. If your student has food allergies or diet restrictions, you will have the opportunity to inform us of those needs during the registration process.

Should my student bring spending money?

Students may wish to bring spending money (small bills) for snacks at camp. However, all meals are covered in the camp registration fee. Please keep in mind not to send your student with something they wouldn’t want to come back home without.

What is the age range of students attending camp?

Lakewood Middle School Summer Camp is for all students who will be entering 6th-8th grade in the fall of 2018.

Who are the leaders at Lakewood Middle School Summer Camp?

All students will be divided into gender specific small groups with one leader for the duration of camp. All leaders have gone through a Lakewood Church background check and have served in the church.

Can my student be in a group with his/her friends?

Due to the large number of students we will be taking to camp, we will be unable to take any special requests for small groups and cabin assignments. However, all students will have plenty of free time to hang out with whomever they choose.

What are the sleeping arrangements at camp?

Students will be assigned with their small group to a cabin with other small groups of the same gender. All cabins have air conditioning and heating, indoor plumbing, showers, and bunk beds.

Can I pay a deposit and make incremental payments?

Yes, you can make a deposit that will reserve your student’s spot. After a deposit is made, you can also make small payments until you reach the full amount of registration. However, if you do not pay fully by the due date you will lose your spot and whatever amount you paid.

Can I sponsor or donate for a student’s ticket?

Absolutely! You can do so at the Lakewood Church Bookstore, at our camp booth, or by clicking the "Sponsor" button in the Registration section above.
