February Hurricane Relief Update

With the new year under way, our rebuild team efforts are going strong. As of January, our teams of volunteers and professional contractors have 28 home restorations underway, with more planned.
Cornerstone Church of Augusta in Stauton, Virginia sent a mission team to help with the rebuild efforts, arriving early Sunday the 21st. They spent the first part of the week doing trim work, painting, and cleaning at Paul & Yvonne Gilmore's home in northeast Houston and then moved to a second home to hang sheetrock there. The team worked with Dave & Joyce Kimble, also from Cornerstone Church in Stauton, who have spent the last six months here in Houston volunteering their skills and service.
When we visited another home, the paint job that had been done in their home was outstanding—some of the best we'd seen. The owners told us that the painting was actually done by the Alaska mission team who came to Houston in late December and early January and that these volunteers had never painted before!??
We are so thankful for the willing hearts of those who've poured into Houston like their very own home. We still have much to do and we are thankful for everyone who has volunteered their time and resources! As we transition to this new season of rebuild phase, we are moving towards professional contractors so we can rebuild faster. However, there is still plenty for volunteers to do.
