The second semester of the 2017-2018 Internship year is now underway. While the first semester of program focused on the heart of the individual intern, second semester focuses on building leadership qualities and providing hands-on experience. We will use the skills learned in the first half of the program to begin leading-out in our ministry teams in a variety of ways, including planning special events, leading services and service teams.

One of the exciting activities the intern class looks forward to at the beginning of the second term is the annual day trip, where we visit churches to experience different ways of doing ministry. This year we visited Gateway Church & Trinity Church in Dallas, Texas. The visit included a tour of each facility, as well as breakout sessions where interns were paired with Pastors who work in the each of the ministries the interns are currently serving in. This year's visit also included a Q&A session with staff from The King's University, who provided an overview of the degree programs offered at the college, as well as an interview with a current student, who shared her heart on why pursuing higher education is important for those who feel called to ministry full-time. Interns left feeling informed on the many different paths and opportunities available to them in ministry, and inspired with fresh ideas to consider for their own ministry teams at Lakewood.

As the second semester moves forward, we are eagerly anticipating serving on a Night of Hope tour and participating in the Mobilizing Medical Missions Conference, Easter Servolution in 5th Ward, and Hope & Life Conference, in addition to our weekly duties in our specific ministries. Interns will also work together to creatively present a final project that showcases everything learned throughout the 10-month program.

As each of us busily serves throughout the church and community, it is our hope and prayer that by the end of the program we will receive confirmation from God regarding a call to ministry, gained insight into the variety of options available in ministry and feel prepared for the next step in their journey. We hope that you will stand in agreement with us on this prayer as well.
