Hurricane Relief January Update

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the holidays season, on December 16th, fifty Lakewood volunteers came out to help with Saturday Serve, our volunteer work days. Teams were dispatched throughout Houston to help in the Hurricane Harvey rebuild efforts where we finished painting and cleaning up flooring for four homes.
Jubilee, a partner church from Belmopan, Belize came with a team of seven people. They spent a week in Houston assisting three homeowners to rebuild their walls. In a time of year where being home matters the most, they were able to provide a beautiful Christmas miracle for Shirley Brown, a single mother who recently lost her son this year. Not only was her home made Christmas ready with the completion of sheetrock, but she was given a new live Christmas tree and stand, which is something her son would do for her every year before he passed away. This act truly added a special touch that only God could orchestrate, illustrating how much our Father cares about our concerns and personal world.
"I'm actually going to be able to have a Christmas this year. I didn't think I was going to have a Christmas." She told our volunteer team.
Touching memories like these will forever stay with our volunteers and we want to thank everyone that has joined us in this endeavor in 2017. Without you, none of this could have been possible. As we turn the page into a new chapter with this fresh new year, we are very excited about helping more people than ever in 2018. This rebuilding process is going to be a long road and there's still plenty to do. We have many opportunities this month for you to jump on board with us.
We have many Saturday service days this month on the 13th, 20th, and 27th. You don't have to be a contractor or have specific skills for our projects this month. We are focusing more on home maintenance and beautification. We are just looking for willing hands and hearts! Simply send an email to [email protected] to sign up. Together we are making a difference and sowing great seeds of hope!
