As a church, we are continuing to help our city rebuild after Hurricane Harvey.

Over the past few months, over 875 pallets worth of supplies have been delivered from partners like from Convoy of Hope and Samaritans Purse. It has been wonderful to see large semi trucks arriving with supplies, including food and snacks for babies, children and adults, cleaning supplies, baby items, clothes and shoes, pet supplies, medical and building supplies. Over 296,592 water bottles have been distributed, as well. We distributed all of these resources into our neighboring communities.

Donation Delivery

On November 18th, we hosted a Disaster Recovery Workshop with over 650 adults and 200 kids in attendance. Pastors Barbara Curtis, Steve Austin and John Bowman did a phenomenal job organizing and facilitating this impactful day, that included a panel from FEMA, SBA and Lone Star Legal offering guidance, plus a special workshop to help educate how to navigate the rebuild process. Trained counselors were on site to help process grief and trauma, and KidsLife's Lori Bethran had a team working with children on processing the experience in their own way.  "Many people were crying. They hadn't had any chance to process what they've been through with other adults, being in survival mode, " said Steve Austin, Pastoral Care minister. This workshop was so successful, we have plans to bring this resource to surrounding neighborhoods in need starting in January.

As Dr. Paul recently mentioned, in partnership with Samaritan's Purse, we have completely gutted and cleaned out almost 600 homes and now we are starting the rebuilding phase. We have identified 286 families/homes that need assistance and are working to help rebuild their homes. We are also organizing teams of skilled volunteers for carpentry, sheetrock, electrical and plumbing to help us move forward and expand our efforts. If you have those skills and would like to get involved, please contact us at [email protected]

If you don't have those skills, but still want to help, our "Saturday Serve" workdays  are perfect for you!  We are painting homes December 9th and 16th. Simply send an email to [email protected] to sign up.

In addition to our Saturday Service days we have home visitation teams that personally visit and check in on those affected by Harvey as well as a call center team that checks in weekly through encouraging phone calls and prayer.

We can't wait to help bring hope, relief, and information to more people in need. We are committed to helping those in need using every possible avenue. Together we are making a difference and we are proud of what our church is doing to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
