Wow! What a great first few days of our efforts to help the people of our great city begin the rebuilding process. Thousands of Lakewood members gathered at two locations in Houston (Spring Branch and Pearland), joined hands with our friends at Samaritan's Purse and were then sent out into neighborhoods that were devastated by Hurricane Harvey. And as our members cut out sheetrock and cleaned up debris, they sent a clear message to those affected by the storm—Lakewood cares! We heard so many stories of how our simple acts of kindness and compassion touched the hearts of so many people.
We will be back at work tomorrow! If you would like to volunteer, click here to sign up. Let me remind you of a couple of things. First, please make sure you arrive for training promptly at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Training lasts for 30 minutes and then you will be assigned a job site. If you miss the training, you will not be allowed to work. If you are staying for the entire day, make sure you bring a lunch. Lunch is not provided.
Thanks for being "all in!" Thanks for being "fully committed!" Keep praying for our city. Keep reaching out to your neighbors who are affected. Together we can help our city recover.
